Guys, there are a lot of tournaments coming up in late summer, and our advanced classes have been empty! We need to get back together and start training hard! Stop slackin' and get back in here. I want to see all our higher belts together, even if you don't plan on competing, get in here and help our guys! Some of you white belts who have been here longer (one year or more) should be training double in the evening too. Come to the beginner and stay for the advanced. If you've been waiting for an invitation, here it is. SHOW UP MAN.
In other news, South Bay is coming up, and we want to take a big team down there to smash. That means whites, blues and purples! Registration ends on the 21st, register here. If you are interested in competing, talk to me or any of the instructors! Read the rest of the entry...

Guys, I just want everybody remind, everybody remember that the 2010 California State Grappling Championships will be held at DOS PUEBLOS HIGH this May 9TH! It has been brought to my attention that this tournament will be a DOUBLE ELIMINATION, which means you will be guaranteed two matches. A lot of you have been training no-gi and this is a great chance to try YOUR FIRST TOURNAMENT. No excuses, or you will all answer to John Sandoval.
But seriously, this is a great opportunity to gain some tournament experience. Double elimination means two matches, Dos Pueblos means you don't have to drive all the way to LA, and the price is right. Check your weight, check the blog, get your card and COMPETE! Even if you don't compete, be sure to mark the date and SHOW UP, MAN. We'll need plenty of helping hands. Some of you guys have been asking me about tournaments: Here's your chance. I'm serious. John will call you out, probably in front of Franjinha. Read the rest of the entry...
Hey Guys,
The Brazil trip is in the works! The dates will be around July 17th-31st, with the tournament being the 22nd-25th. This will be a great opportunity to travel, compete, and see the birth-place of our great sport! The cost depends on the amount of people we get, but it should be around 1,500 or 2,000 dollars for airfare, cars, apartments and everything. For info on the tournament, go here. We need to get a list going, so make sure to tell Franjinha, Sean or myself if you are interested and we'll put your name down! Read the rest of the entry...
Alright, everyone, Pan Am results are in! As you probably already know, Franjinha took first in both his weight and the open divisions. He had a total of 7 matches, with a total of 0 points scored against him. That's to say, he smashed. Milton took first in his weight, Bill Cooper took 3rd in adult light black belt division. Dave Kohl took 2nd in ultra heavy brown belt adult division. The Ventura guys did great as well, led by Mitch Young and Glen Gross. Mitch took third in senior 3 open black belt and Glenn took 3rd in ultra heavy senior 3 brown belt. Choi from Hollywood took third in adult featherweight brown belt. Forgive me if there are some I've forgotten. Everyone who fought did a great job representing Paragon, and we will come back even stronger for Worlds! Read the rest of the entry...
