Guys, I just want everybody remind, everybody remember that the 2010 California State Grappling Championships will be held at DOS PUEBLOS HIGH this May 9TH!  It has been brought to my attention that this tournament will be a DOUBLE ELIMINATION, which means you will be guaranteed two matches.  A lot of you have been training no-gi and this is a great chance to try YOUR FIRST TOURNAMENT.  No excuses, or you will all answer to John Sandoval. But seriously, this is a great opportunity to gain some tournament experience.  Double elimination means two matches, Dos Pueblos means you don't have to drive all the way to LA, and the price is right.  Check your weight, check the blog, get your card and COMPETE!  Even if you don't compete, be sure to mark the date and SHOW UP, MAN.  We'll need plenty of helping hands.  Some of you guys have been asking me about tournaments: Here's your chance.  I'm serious.  John will call you out, probably in front of Franjinha.   Read the rest of the entry...

Hey Guys, The Brazil trip is in the works!  The dates will be around July 17th-31st, with the tournament being the 22nd-25th.  This will be a great opportunity to travel, compete, and see the birth-place of our great sport!  The cost depends on the amount of people we get, but it should be around 1,500 or 2,000 dollars for airfare, cars, apartments and everything.  For info on the tournament, go here.  We need to get a list going, so make sure to tell Franjinha, Sean or myself if you are interested and we'll put your name down!   Read the rest of the entry...

Thank you, everyone, for showing up to support Jacob Sandoval and Team Paragon at the BBQ on Sunday!  It was a great success, and we raised enough money to cover his flight and then some!  The food was great, big thanks to Jim Torgeson of Torgy's BBQ for the awesome meal!  This is a huge opportunity for Jacob and for our school as a whole, and it was cool to see the Paragon family mobilize for one of its own!  If anyone has photos of the event, feel free to post them.  Now let's train hard for the Pan Ams!   Read the rest of the entry...

Once again, ask, children, and you shall receive.  Paragon yoga classes are starting Saturday, March 6th at 11 am!  This isn't going to be soft-serve yoga, guys.  Jen Green, an Ashtanga and power yoga instructor, visited the academy to watch us roll, and she created a lesson plan tailored to jiu jitsu!  I tried out her class and it's awesome.  Make it on opening day to check out our yoga program and welcome our new instructor!   Read the rest of the entry...
